Batman ceralI’m a big fan of cereal.

I can eat cereal for every meal whether it’s sugary sweet with marshmallows and packed with chemicals or old fashioned, boring, and packed with bran. I am a fan. I even have a few cereal boxes around here and some of them might spark a memory or two so I thought I’d share them.

It’s hard for me to pick my favorite cereal box of all time, but the Batman cereal from the 1989 movie is in my top 3. Especially if it still has the Batman bank shrink wrapped to the front. The box is simple and beautiful with that wonderful ‘89 Bat symbol right on the front covered by that cheap plastic bank that I always thought was one of the best cereal premiums ever!

GhostbustersUrkel is definitely not in my top favorite cereal boxes, but I love it nonetheless. This one takes me straight back to the days when Urkel was a popular enough character to get his own cereal. I actually ate a bowl of this a year or two back and it wasn’t half bad for decades old cereal.

I love the Ghostbusters cereal as much as the Batman cereal. I have so many memories of eating this one and staring at that box while watching the Ghostbusters cartoon. I absolutely love that big hologram on the front. Ralston did that with several of their cereals for a time and I thought it was amazing when I was a kid. To be honest, I still think it’s pretty amazing.

TMNT ceralWhen I was a kid I was totally caught up in the larger than life wrestlers in the WWF. Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, and the Ultimate Warrior all spring to mind when I think about my childhood with 80’s wrestling and the over the top world that came along with it. This box brings up great memories of eating the cereal with a handful of those rubber LJN WWF figures spread out in front of me while Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n Wrestling was on tv.

Ninja Turtles was my everything as a kid. I could sell every nerdy thing I own and replace it all with Ninja Turtles stuff and be perfectly happy. I loved the toys, the cartoon, AND the cereal. I own four different TMNT cereal boxes if that tells you anything. The Turtles are on par with Star Wars for me and if a fight broke out between the two I just might have to pick the Teenage Mutant Ninjas Turtles over the Jedi and bounty hunters, maybe.
